Arrived just before 6 for an evening session. Wind off-shore so difficult to judge sail size. 2 guys were out on what I thought were 6m sails so went for my 6.2 Vulcan. Wobbled out through the wind shadow hoping that the gusty wind would be more constant further out. Found that I was way overpowered in the gusts which were quite long lasting. In between the gusts was nothing.

Should have come back in to change down, but takes so long to get back with this direction, and it was fairly late already. Thought I could cope with the gusts but it was a constant struggle. Water was flat but gybing was pretty erratic with the mental wind. Made most of my fast tacks on the way in at the end (change feet quickly and keep weight on centre line).

The other sailors were on 5m, 5.4, and 5.7m. I had an unpleasent session on 6.2m and have tweaked quite a few ligaments. Moral - change down.
